Abraham’s House Foundation is developing a structured transitional housing program for young adults ages 18 to 21 who are aging out of foster care or experiencing homelessness. Our first home is planned for young men, with a vision to establish a separate residential program for young women in the future. More than providing a safe place to live, our program is designed to help residents build a foundation for independence through mentorship, counseling, education, career development, practical life skills, and continued support.
Who is this housing for?
Abraham’s House Foundation is developing its first residential program for young men ages 18 to 21 in Gaston County and surrounding communities who are transitioning from foster care, experiencing homelessness, or facing housing instability. Our goal is to provide more than shelter by creating a supportive environment where residents can gain stability, develop life skills, pursue educational and career opportunities, and build meaningful relationships as they prepare for independence.
We welcome connections with foster care agencies, social workers, churches, and community organizations that share our commitment to supporting young adults. Together, we can help create pathways toward stability and independence.
How do I get a place in the house?
Abraham’s House Foundation is currently developing its first residential program and is not yet accepting applications. Once the program is established, we anticipate working with foster care agencies, social service organizations, and community partners to connect eligible young adults with housing opportunities. Our future admissions process will focus on understanding each applicant’s individual circumstances, needs, and goals to determine whether Abraham’s House is an appropriate fit. We encourage interested individuals and referral partners to contact us for updates as we work toward opening our doors.
What happens while I live there?
At Abraham’s House, our planned residential program will focus on personal growth, accountability, and preparation for independent living. Each resident will be encouraged to establish meaningful goals in education, employment, financial stability, and personal well-being. Through individualized guidance, regular check-ins, and ongoing encouragement, our goal is to help young adults build the confidence, responsibility, and skills necessary for lasting independence.
- Independent Living Skills: Budgeting, financial literacy, cooking, household management, and everyday responsibilities.
- Counseling & Mentorship: Emotional support, positive relationships, personal development, and guidance.
- Voluntary Faith-Based Support: Optional Bible study, prayer, and spiritual mentorship in a Christ-centered environment.
- Education & Career Development: GED preparation, vocational training, skilled trades, and employment readiness.
What happens after Abraham’s House?
As residents prepare for independent living, our goal is to help them establish financial stability, secure employment, and access housing resources for a successful transition. Our commitment extends beyond their time at Abraham’s House. Through continued mentorship, community connections, and ongoing encouragement, we aim to provide lasting support as young adults navigate new responsibilities, pursue their goals, and build independent futures.
